Blame Opposition for decline in Press Freedom

The international NGO for press freedom, Reporters sans Frontières (RSF) or Reporters Without Borders gave Malaysia it's worst ranking at 145 on their World Press Freedom Index since the index began in 2002.

According to the only portal reporting this development, Malaysiakini, Malaysia stood at 140 in 2010 and rose to 122 for 2011-2012 and plunged to the current level. a ranking of 145 for 2012 on ranked.

The full Malaysiakini report is not available and is not necessary. Why waste money to subscribe junk news?

After all, one can sense that it is merely another stunt to create the perception of the country is in a state of degradation under Dato Najib as Prime Minister, thus it is time to vote for rebel rousing and anarchist Pakatan "Riot".

Cheap gimmick.

Rise and fall of Index

For the unthinking public or those refusing to think, do realise or observe that the RSF Index chart for Malaysia was rising from 122 in 2004 to 92 in 2006 when propagandist Dato Kalimullah Masyerullah Hassan was in his elements lying for 'laying' Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Whether that makes sense, it another different issue to contend with. But the index slumped the subsequent year of 2007 to 124 and it has been at that level of 120- 145 ever since.

One would have thought that the RSF would consider that the more leeway and freedom now to place it at a better index position than during the time of Tun Dr Mahathir but no ... the index was at 102, 92 and 122 for 2002, 2003 and 2004, respectively.

It means as far as the index is concerned the height of Press Freedom is during the premiership of Dr Mahathir which opposition claim is a draconian regime.

That could only mean that the index had no consistency in it's measurements and it highly possible that the numbers are plucked out of thin air to fulfill a certain agenda.

Foreign back funded

All one need to understand is to see the link between RSF and the opposition interests.

RSF is an Amnesty International sponsored outfit that is inextricably linked Geroge Soros Open Society Institute (OSI) and American based, National Endownment on Democrasy (NED).

These are the foreign groups that has working relationship and funded Bersih, Malaysiakini, Bar Council, SUARAM, and all those so-called local NGOs cooperating together with PKR and Pakatan Rakyat.

All these foreign and local groups are working together to undertake the regime change exposed by Dr Mahathir.

Recently, he mentioned that Anwar Ibrahim have boasted of pursuing a people uprising revolution ala Arab Spring when they lose by using their preemptive accusation of election fraud. That is what Bersih and their so-called clean election agenda is all about.

If they are genuine, they would be sincerely engaging the Election Commission. There have been none since before Bersih 2.0.

Prior to that, there had a single meeting in which they insist in their way as right and all reason given by EC as wrong. Subsequently, they claimed loudly that EC was unwilling to cooperate.

Basically, Bersih just want to propagate the accusation that there are election fraud happening.

See the linkages of all these organisation with RSF below:

Regime change

Now that we know how RSF's bread is buttered, it should tell us how things will fall in place.

That is how the cookie crumble and that was how Merdeka Center and now their proxy, UMCEDEL payed the role to give the false perception that voters are favouring Pakatan Rakyat.

RSF is merely following the script to show Malaysia is at it's worse prior to the fall of a regime. Hopefully the unthinking public that cannot put things in the wider perspective will swallow these lies and follow them without much thinking.

The RSF index should be deemed as meaningless.

As Bigdogdotcom turned the table on them by arguing here that the state of journalism is in such a state of disarray because of the anti free media practises by opposition leaders, specifically like Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, etc.

Journalist aren't able to ask the right questions for fear of being publicly humiliated and harassed by securities personal. When they are cornered, they burst into anger and vent it on reporters.

And there is this practise of targeting to sue only Utusan Malaysia by DAP and other opposition leaders upon any unfavourable news reported of them. This same legal harassment is also now targeted on  bloggers and Dato Husam Musa of PAS is personally involved in several lawsuits.

If mainstream newspaper is accused of being biased, they are merely biased in terms of commentaries but never on the news report. Face it, commentaries will skew towards media owners leaning. That is an unstated practise everywhere in the world including those so-called free press western countries.

Malaysiakini twisted reporting

In Malaysia, alternatives news portal like Malaysiakini, The Malaysian Insider's, and the various opposition parties publication are lying and spinning their news reports to twist the facts and actual storyline.

Below is one glaring example by Malaysiakini, which yours truly was there witnessing the event:

This scumbag of a reporter actually twisted the words of Dr Mahathir and made a non-issue into an issue.

Throughout his speech, Dr Mahathir spoke at length about on the need to maintain rationality. Although the topic given to him was about Constitution and National Security, he kept his discussion within the his current theme of Malays have to be rational in their political decisions.

Although briefly touching on maintaining peace and stability as essential in the formulation of the Constitution, he viewed the inclusion of immigrant races as necessary because of the inability of the Malays to fill-up the void left in government and commerce when the immigrants and colonial return.

Dr Mahathir would not have been ignorance to the question about provocative question against Ambiga. His answer was basically the Constitution does not allow the removal of anyone's citizenship. However, he added another fact that the Constitution need two third majority to be amended.

However Malaysiakini joint these two mutually exclusive set of fact to be written as title and attracted emotional reactions.

That is twisted reporting.

Sinar Harian spin

The declining state of journalism is not only happening at the online portals run by opposition sympathisers but also daily newspapers.

For instance, Sinar Harian reported that several BN Ministers did not make the mark with MACC.

No details were provided but merely an MACC officials denying or refusing to verify the news report. Basically it was a "no comment" answer.

Despite void of any source of information or most likely they dare not reveal their information and source, Sinar Harian continued to expand the story and secure comments from both sides as though their leading story had any journalistic basis for publication.

Sinar Harian also received a drubbing for giving a frontpage coverage to Dato Husam Musa's lie on oil finding in the midst of Kota Baru town.

In the first place, only Petronas or as a source has any locus standi to any report on oil finding. Husam is deeply involved in the R propaganda to demand oil royalty from the federal government and Petronas. Despite losing his case in the High Court and Court of Appeal, he is still drumming it as an issue for Kelantan..

Sinar Harian was assisting him to propagate a false statement that the state of Kelantan can negotiate with other parties to explore oil in which it cannot do so under the various Act related to oil exploration

Any reporter would have known that fact.

Don't tell us that an old hand like Dato Hishamuddin Fikry does not know that. And everyone in the business knows how Hishamuddin secure his funding and money changing hands to reporters and editors for published stories.

These are only few recent glaring examples.

It is enough to discourage many anti-Utusan Malaysia readers among our friends to now refuse to read Harakah, Malaysiakini and the likes too.

So this decline can very much be blamed on the opposition. Given more press freedom, they did not chose to be more professional than mainstream media but equally or not more bias and overzealous to cloud the public from true and fair reporting.
